Goals...To be or Not to be....

It looks like it has been a really long time since our last blog. I am not much of a blogger or a writer, but doing this every once in a while is not only good for me, but fun as well. I know it’s far into the month of January when people have probably already dropped their new year’s resolutions and saved them for next year, but I just thought it would be fun to share a few our family goals for 2011. Some of these are regular things we do all the time, but keeping them apart of our family goals is what will keep them alive.

1. Go on walks every evening together

2. Save up enough money for an addition to our family

3. Pray together

4. Read scriptures together

5. Do ‘Family Home Evening’

So far we have been able to do 3 of the 5 goals, and they aren’t even at 100%, but I think the biggest thing is that we try. It’s hard at this time in our lives to save money when all we are doing is spending it to survive.

I think the New Year always helps us to resituate our lives, remember what’s really important, and where our time should be spent. I am almost certain that that is the only way to progress. For example, if every day you did the same thing, walked the same way, and spoke the same words; you wouldn’t know any other way to live. By re-evaluating our life; strengths and weaknesses it really helps us all to become happier by accomplishing our goals, or striving hard to get there.

“I invoke the blessings of the Lord upon you, my dear friends, to reach for the stars. If you touch them, grace shall be your reward; if you stumble and fall while reaching upward, you will be happy knowing you’ve made the effort.” – President Gordon B. Hinckley.

I know that this is true is more ways than one. If we just do our best to accomplish our goals, we will find that happiness will follow.
